A film where a boy steals a really nice leather-bound book inlaid with metal... then proceeds to physically ruin it by throwing it across a room, getting his grubby fingers all over the pages, and probably sneezing on it. Then, as this boy reads - he discovers he is part of the story! That's when things GET WEIRD... nah, actually that is when things kind-of wrap up actually.

This week the Rewinders Podcast takes on the non-Fantasia portion of the 1984 film, The Neverending Story. Where a child steals a book, trashes it, becomes part of it, and commits stolen valor on the real heroes of the book.

109 - UHF [1989]

Cop finds girl... girl and cop fall in love...  girl and cop discover they have different priorities... girl and cop break up... cop and girl are still in a death spiral of attraction with each other... girl and cop get back together... meanwhile, crime is thwarted through bumbling happenstance.

And there are funny parts.

106 - Mortal Kombat [1995]

When video games are popular, what better thing to do than to make a half-effort attempt at making a movie to cash in on it?

The 1995 Mortal Kombat follows 3 of the "good guys" characters from the video game - and their endeavor to save the world through MORTAL KOMBAT!

Is this story in line with the games... no. Do the fighting moves look as cheesy as they do in the game... yes!

Join Sonya - one of the boring characters from the game, as she is somehow thrust into a position of "importance" in the plot... which is never explained in film. Is this odd story interesting... nope. But, other things keep happening around that story to maybe keep you interested.

Also, its nice to see Christopher Lambert again - but its a little weird that he plays Rayden the lightening god who apparently rules over the Earth Realm. Rayden, according to Babynames.com is Japanese meaning "God Spirit" - so, you know... having a white dude playing the role totally makes sense.

105 - Little Monsters [1989]

Are you a dad - or will you be one soon? Follow these five step to keep your child, or future child, from becoming a monster:

Step 1 - don't grease your hair as a dad

Step 2 - stop being so overly invested in sports over your family as a dad

Step 3 - do something other than verbally fight every night as a dad

Step 4 - don't always tuck your shirt in - or at least go with a French tuck if you must, as a dad

Step 5 - review if you have a clear pathway before backing your car, even if you are not a dad

Follow these simple steps and your child wont get whisked away to a pallet filled basement world where semi-adults (Maurice says he is 11, but looks like he is at least in his 20s) convince them to vote libertarian and be twits.

The prince of Zamunda doesn't want to marry the woman arranged for him to marry and he convinces everyone to let him travel before getting hitched. What they don't realize is he plans to find his perfect queen - in Queens, New York.

Things get crazy pretty quick because our prince has never been in the outside world and is innocent to all its ways.

On the way to finding his future bride, we are introduced to numerous characters played by Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall (before Eddie Murphy playing multiple characters burned itself out) - Other famous actors/comedians who had not yet hit it big - and SSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUULLLLLLLLL  GLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOW!

Why just die by Brain Cloud, when you can die by throwing yourself into a Volcano? Its a simple quandary really. Easily answered after being offered unlimited funds to spend before the task is completed.
