The Rewinders Podcast rewinds - and reboots - movies from the 80s and 90s that we watched as kids. We talk about what is remembered and felt about it as a child. Then, we determine if the movie still holds up. In between that we tangent, make jokes, and act dumb in general. Current hosts of the Podcast are Joe, Ken, Andy, and Dan. Movies are reviewed on a monthly basis and are usually released on Monday mornings.

T-U-R-T-L-E Power
Now, while one production royally missed the marked with one childhood property... This one did much better!
Follow a group of sewer dwelling turtles that were mutated into being ... huuuuuman-turtle hybrids? Led by their master... a huuuuuman-rat hybrid, who taught them martial arts.
They fight an EVIL organization out of Japan... now in the United States (for reasons), called "The Foot" and its leader The Shredder!
Now things get daytime soap opera-y as Splinter, the human-rat, was the pet of the man killed by The Shredder before he was The Shredder...
Wait... nope, I guess that is as deep as it gets...
But April O'Neil's boss's kid gets caught up in The Foot... and she has to help her new found Human-Turtle friends keep Danny (the kid) safe, and stop the evil organization from using teens to commit their crimes of stealing Tube TVs and VCRs.
It is not the cartoon, but it isn't not the cartoon either.
Listen to Lee and Joe hash it out - and decide if the movie STILL HOLDS UP.

What boy in the 80s didn't like He-Man?
Yea, yea, I am sure there are some... shutup.
And adults knew that kids loved He-Man, and She-Ra, and Stinkgore... and Padawan... and Skeletor... and Mumra... You know, the cast of the all-star movie Masters of the Universe!
Wait... the movie sort of had these characters? At least it had Man-At-Arms...
In the end, the film was a flop because adults didn't care and just wanted to retain the property... kids were suckered in one time - and quickly learned that there was no heart put into anything and sadly walked away. Not to mention that He-Man really didn't outlast the 80s.
We have memes now... and a new run at She-Ra, but this cut deep. I like Dolph Lundgren, but this movie was not remotely close to watch kids wanted to see on screen. Listen to Lee and Joe grumble about this movie and determine if it still holds up.

Bring on the GUUUUUUUUUUUT!
This movie started a series of... what? 53 movies? Yeah, jump on the 80's hype train that got every kid making sound effects like the character Larvell Jones.
Never mind the movie was full of BJs, Breasts, and saucy language... It had slapstick humor for the kids -- something for the whole family to enjoy.
Lee and Joe discuss the plot and decide if the film holds up after all these years.

In the 1980s we had the perfect law enforcement, and it was given to Detroit.
ROBOCOP!
Sure, it took an officer getting shot 2 bazillion times before he could be honed/cast/built/programmed/interfaced... er whatever. BUT. IT. WAS. DONE. This is the deepest dive into a movie The Rewinders Podcast has done to date (April 18th, 2020). This is only part 3 of 3. A collection of podcasts going over almost every detail to an obscene level.
They follow Murphy from his first day on the force - to the day he was given permission to override his prime directives.
Come along on this journey through blood, mayhem, and dark humor with Lee and Joe to unveil if Robocop still holds up.

Here is your stereotype of Australians... they wrestle crocodiles, have large knives, leathery skin, and kangaroos drinking Fosters.
The lady from New York City, Sue Charlton, goes to the Australian outback to meet Mick Dundee who survived a crocodile attack and crawled back to safety. Its a wacky, fish out of water adventure.
THEN... Mick Dundee is invited back to New York City... and the fish out of water situation FLIPS!
Laughs are had... shrimps are put on the barbie.... and wahwahwahwahwahwahwahwah... boomerrangs.
Finally, after all that, Lee and Joe discuss if this film holds up.

Evil Genius, Rick Moranis, creates a HUGE laser in his attic designed to MURDER... but keeps telling people its really for shrinking... because that is what Evil Geniuses do. He also is a bad parent who creates doomsday devices in his family home instead of getting a lair, like a REAL MAD SCIENTIST! Anyway, his kids screw up the machine by smashing it with a baseball, and instead of killing them, like it should, the laser shrinks the kids instead.
From there its projected backgrounds and overly large props until they are blown back up to regular size... and maybe some ant erotica - its been awhile since I watched this...
Lee and Joe take a bite out of this unexpected Disney hit of a film and let you know if it still holds up!
